One of the most impressive highlights from Sony’s Future of Gaming presentation, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a third-person action-adventure title that’s best summed up as The Legend of Zelda with Pixar-level animation quality.

The game is being developed by Ember Lab, an indie studio that, before game design, specialized in developing characters for animated commercials.

The studio’s animation prowess is on full display in Kena’s announcement trailer, depicting fluid movement and combat systems accented by flashy particle effects and lush forest environments.

Reminiscent of minion-based games like Pikmin, the story sees you raising an army of tiny magical creatures called the Rot, growing their ranks and unlocking new abilities that allow them to manipulate the environment.

16 years after the original platforming adventure was released, Psychonauts 2 will finally release for PC and console, including PS4.

The sequel once again focuses on Raz, who’s since graduated from school and working as an intern at Psychonauts Headquarters.

However, after his team’s leader is rescued from a kidnapping, his mind is not quite the same; and to make matters worse, there’s a mole hiding in the organization.

Psychonauts 2 will combine the quirky gameplay and mysteries the series is known for while injecting a new cinematic style and tons of customizable psychic powers.

Ubisoft has been trying to usher in a new wave of extreme sports games for a couple of years now but their latest attempt looks to be the most promising.

Riders Republic is a mashup of popular extreme sports such as snowboarding, skiing, off-road biking, and wingsuit flying all jammed into a huge, connected open world.

Players have the freedom to explore the game world at their leisure using a variety of traversal tools and participate in competitions against other players online.

There will be tons of options for customizing your character’s appearance and gear, though nothing in the way of impacting player performance.

F.I.S.T. is an upcoming exploration-based platformer with an eye-catching aesthetic developer TiGames calls “dieselpunk.”

In it, you play as Rayton, an anthropomorphic bunny who’s forced into battle after his friend is kidnapped by a race of machine-like enemies who control the world.

Armed with a trio of weapons that includes a mechanized fist, a drill, and a whip, Rayton sets out to find his friend’s kidnappers and take down the Machine Legion once and for all.

F.I.S.T. features a unique arcade-style combat system that relies on performing combo chains using Rayton’s diverse arsenal.

Originally announced as Rainbow Six Quarantine, Extraction is a co-op spin-off to Siege that sees players working together to defeat parasitic aliens called the Archaeans.

Designed for up to 3-player teams, gameplay revolves around infiltrating locations overrun with aliens and completing various tasks before escaping.

Missions, referred to as Incursions, will range from collecting biosamples to gathering intel, all while exploring interconnected sub-maps with randomly assigned objectives.

Players can choose from a pool of 18 operators based on Siege characters, each with their own arsenal of weapons and gadgets to combat the alien threat.

Super Monkey Ball fans don’t have much to hold on to nowadays seeing as it’s been a few years since there’s been any news about the classic arcade platformer.

Thankfully, that’s all set to change when Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania releases later this fall for Windows PC and console.

It comes packed with 300+ stages from the original SMB, SMB2, and SMB Deluxe, along with 12 mini-games and new customization options.

Up to 4-players can now work together to save Jungle Island via local co-op or dive deep into SMB’s lore with a new creative comic book-style story mode.

In contrast to Far Cry 5’s rural American setting, Far Cry 6 revisits the lush tropical paradise trope of previous entries while telling a new politically charged story.

You play as Dani, a rebel soldier fighting against Yara’s corrupt dictatorship lead by Anton Castillo (performed by Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito).

Along with new environments and characters, it features a ton of exciting weapons, vehicles, and animal companions to bring along for the ride, including a baby alligator you can pet.

Like previous entries, Far Cry 6 will include a co-op mode that lets two players experience the story via local and online multiplayer.

With Valve flat-out refusing to make a new Left 4 Dead, Back 4 Blood is the closest we’ll ever get to a new installment in the zombie shooter franchise.

Thankfully, development is being handled by Turtle Rock Studios, the team behind the original L4D, whose credits also include the asymmetrical multiplayer title Evolve.

Described as a spiritual successor to TR’s game, Back 4 Blood will include genre staples such as local and online four-player co-op centered on a replayable story campaign.

Additionally, the game will feature a PvP mode where you can play as the monster and attack other players.

The seventeenth installment in the Battlefield series is due out later this year and brings with it a host of new features and shiny tech.

Battlefield 2042 sees players competing across various modes including staples like Conquest and Breakthrough along with the co-op-centric Hazard Mode and another that’s yet to be revealed.

Since the game is set in the near future, players can expect an abundance of futuristic weapons and gadgets such as deployable turrets, drones, and vehicles.

2042’s new Plus system will allow players to customize their weapons on the spot and the overhauled class system lets you pick from four unique specializations: Assault, Engineer, Medic, and Recon.

Square Enix and Marvel have partnered for another game about a band of heroes, albeit one with a loose interpretation of the term “heroes.”

Guardians of the Galaxy reimagines the spacefaring gang of misfits as they travel to different planets hatching schemes that will no doubt land them in cosmic trouble.

You play as the Guardians’ leader, Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, as he attempts to wrangle his teammates into shape and uncover mysteries surrounding his past.

There will be plenty of opportunities to collaborate with your fellow Guardians in and out of combat, from combining powers to settling petty debates among the crew.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is a first-person action RPG set after the events of the first game and centers on a completely new protagonist.

Aiden Caldwell is an infected survivor who uses his superb dexterity and combat prowess to gain allies and constantly escape the clutches of the undead.

The game features streamlined parkour traversal complemented by interactive environments that let you swing from ropes and ride on the roofs of vehicles.

This time around, Techland is including more player-choice, promising to deliver a dynamic open-world that reacts to your actions and evolves throughout the story.

Long shrouded in mystery, Elden Ring‘s appearance at E3 2021 came as a relief for fans who have been eager to learn more about From Software’s next open-world action RPG.

Aside from its dark fantasy lore being penned by George R.R. Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki’s role as director, we’ve also learned more about how the game will play.

Elden Ring’s combat draws inspiration from previous From Software games, namely the Souls series, but with a bit more verticality akin to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

There’s also a horse you can ride throughout the open world, seemingly even during battles, and it can jump really high.

A sequel to Frontier Developments’ management sim based on the iconic Jurassic Park movies was recently unveiled for console and PC during E3 2021.

Set after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Evolution 2 has you taking control of a new island with more robust management tools and creative freedom than ever before.

This includes constructing unique habitats to attract guests and modifying dinosaurs’ genes to enhance certain aspects of their physiology.

Additionally, a new Chaos Theory mode lets you experience pivotal moments throughout the film franchise and devise your own “what-if” scenarios.

GigaBash is an upcoming arena fighter from Malaysian indie studio Passion Republic Games where up to four players duke it out as one of many different kaiju fighters.

The game features a zoomed-out, top-down camera reminiscent of games like Battlerite, though its premise is a lot closer to classic kaiju brawlers like Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters!

However, instead of slow lumbering monsters, GigaBash’s fighters are surprisingly nimble, making for fast and chaotic brawls complete with over-the-top attacks and transformations.

No word on a release date yet, but we’re already in love with the game’s cartoony yet detailed 3D visuals.

In Hazel Sky, you take on the role of a young engineer tasked with overcoming the challenges that await him on an abandoned island.

Your journey sees you exploring every inch of the island in search of spare parts that can be combined to create mechanically dazzling machines.

The goal is to build a device that will allow you to escape the island and make it back home in one piece, though we’re counting on plenty of twists and turns along the way.

Despite Hazel Sky’s mechanics-driven premise, it’s story also shows a lot of promise and we’re eager to learn more about its main protagonist Shane.

Boundary is an upcoming competitive first-person shooter set in outer space.

The best way to describe it is like Call of Duty in zero gravity, complete with an assortment of guns and maps to face off against other players.

Firefights are guaranteed to be a lot more intense since there’s no solid ground to cling to in the heat of battle.

You will, however, have a grappling hook and a host of special abilities, some of which we assume can benefit traversal.

All signs point towards Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga being a pivotal entry in the long-running Lego game franchise.

The upcoming title plans on adapting all nine episodes of the Star Wars saga for modern consoles and high-resolution displays.

So far, we know it will feature fully-voiced dialogue and allow players to complete any of the episodes in whichever order they choose.

Given the success of the original games and the rise in quality of more recent entries, we’re confident The Skywalker Saga will be a great time.

PlayStation exclusive Horizon Forbidden West will expand upon the mysterious world introduced by its predecessor in hopes of dazzling both PS4 and PS5 owners.

The sequel includes a host of graphical and gameplay improvements over Horizon Zero Dawn, including new water traversal sections,

Our protagonist Aloy returns, this time searching for more answers that will inevitably lead her to the biggest challenges she’s ever faced.

Considering Horizon has always stood out for its unique interpretation of a post-apocalyptic world, we’re eager to see what lies beyond the forbidden west.

Platinum Games is partnering with Square Enix once again to deliver a new action RPG called Babylon’s Fall.

The latest trailer suggests the game will bring players along for an epic fantasy adventure spanning multiple in-game generations.

It’s currently unclear when and where Bablyon’s Fall takes place.

However, the presence of knights, demonic enemies, and a massive tower suggests there may be a connection to the mythical Tower of Babel from the Book of Genesis.

From the same team who brought us Absolver comes Sifu, another action game with hand-to-hand combat modeled after Kung Fu fighting techniques.

In it, you play as a gifted yet outnumbered fighter on a mission to hunt down the assassins who killed their family in cold blood.

To even the odds and take control of fights, you’ll have to make clever use of your surroundings and use objects, weapons, windows, and ledges against your enemies.

As you progress, you’ll unlock new skills and strengthen both your body and mind through practice and a yet-to-be-explained aging system.

Solar Ash is Heart Machine’s follow-up to Hyper Light Drifter and looks to be a fresh take on the modern 3D platformer with elements of adventure.

It sees you journeying through a highly stylized surreal world brimming with mystery, fast and fluid traversal, and a host of larger-than-life enemies.

You take control of Ash as she tries to save her world from the “Ultravoid,” a dark energy that feeds off of worlds and spawns massive beasts.

While we can confirm Solar Ash is set in the same universe as HLD, Heart Machine has stated it is not a direct sequel.

Have you ever wanted to become one of the animals you see in a nature documentary? In Away: The Survival Series, you can do just that.

The game sees players stepping into the role of a sugar glider who’s forced to flee his home after a powerful storm passes through.

In search of safety and a new home, you’ll explore a sprawling open-world, all while grappling with your unique position in the food chain.

The game focuses on traversing environments using the sugar glider’s unique abilities while looking out for predators and other dangers.

Heavenly Bodies is a 2D space astronaut simulation game that sees you and a partner attempting to run a space station in zero gravity.

To complete tasks and keep the station functioning as it should, you’ll have to navigate to different parts using the game’s physics-based controls.

The left and right analog sticks allow you to move your character’s arms while bumpers are for tucking in your legs.

What makes the game stand out is its unique combination of physics-based gameplay set within a zero-gravity environment.

Originally planned to release in 2018 and then later 2019, Atomic Heart has had one of the more interesting development stories, with rumors suggesting it may not even be the same game anymore.

Categorized as a “first-person shooter with RPG elements,” the game is well into the process of development at studio Mundfish, a Russian-based indie game studio.

Evoking memories of sci-fi staples like BioShock and Fallout, Atomic Heart takes place in an alternate reality where the Soviet Union’s research has led to a technical revolution.

Players assume control of a Soviet KGB officer tasked with infiltrating a secret facility that’s gone radio silent.
